About Us

Proudly serving Palm Beach Country since 1946

My mom and dad built Appliance King on a firm foundation of always doing the right thing. It is why their passion for helping people, whether customers or employees, and willingness to go the extra mile is part of our culture.

My earliest and fondest memories involve accompanying my dad to customers’ homes and spending my free time working in the office with mom, researching parts, answering calls, and learning about the business firsthand. My parents taught us the importance of treating people graciously and with respect, looking customers in the eyes, and a firm handshake.

From day one, my parents enlisted the whole family in running Appliance King. We are proud of our small family business and our history in this industry. My mom, Diane came back from retirement to masterfully handle our sales department. Luanne my mother-in-law follows up on every completed job personally to ensure 100% satisfaction. My sister Julie is the “jedi master” in the office making the impossible possible for customers every day! Sally often reminds me of when my parents would carry me into our shop in a car seat. She is like a grandmother to me whom I’m blessed to have in both my life and as a rock star on my team. Each and every one of our employees are part of our family and we regularly enjoy each other’s company at family BBQ’s and birthdays.

When you call our office, you will know right away that you chose to join the best appliance family on the planet.

About Diane

My parents, Jim and Diane Costanzo, founded Appliance King of America in the 1980s, but the company dates back to 1946. My dad always had a passion and a talent for repairing things, and both my parents placed a high value on service. As a result, when my father moved to Florida in the 1970s, he pursued his dream of running a trusted neighborhood repair business that helped people, offered high-quality services and products, and served as a reliable resource to its community. He later met my mother, and they were thrilled to discover Acme Appliance, the oldest GE Dealer in Palm Beach County, with its reputation for excellent customer service and quality products. They acquired the company and various others, including Delray Appliance, and changed the name to Appliance King of America.

From the beginning, Jim and Diane ran Appliance King as a family business and taught their children the importance of service and “doing the right thing.” Jim passed down to his children his love for working with his hands, repairing appliances, and helping people. The Costanzo children spent most of their free time after school and during vacations tagging along on customer visits, working in the office, researching parts, or answering customer calls. The children were taught to treat people respectfully and graciously, to shake hands, and to look people in the eyes.

To his children and the rest of the Appliance King team, Jim Costanzo emphasized the importance of “doing things right,” no matter how long projects take. To his family and the Appliance King team, Jim Costanzo passed along his tremendous work ethic, his passion for continual self-improvement, and his appreciation for life’s twists and turns. According to David, some of his father’s enduring lessons are summarized in two of his favorite sayings: “Haste makes waste,” and “The road to success is always under construction.”

David’s mother, Diane Costanzo, continues to play an important role at Appliance King, serving as a corporate officer and a part-time advisor.

About David

David Costanzo has served as President and CEO of Appliance King since 2016. He has developed a strategic vision for the company and is expanding Appliance King’s customer services and footprint, to ensure that the company serves as Palm Beach County’s comprehensive resource for appliance sales, maintenance, repair, and parts. David has begun implementing new services to meet customer needs, including same-day local delivery for in-stock parts, appliance maintenance plans, and cloud-based scheduling and tracking systems enabling us to be more responsive.

David grew up in the family business, and he can’t remember a time when Appliance King wasn’t a big part of his life. Some of David’s fondest memories involve riding around with his father in the company trucks, visiting customers’ homes, and learning about the business firsthand.

David inherited his father’s love of service and his passion for fixing things, and he feels grateful for the opportunity to continue his father’s work in serving the community through Appliance King. While he has been involved in the business throughout his life, David took over the company formally following the passing of his father Jim in 2014. Prior to joining Appliance King as President and CEO, David worked at AT&T for 6 years, to help pay his way through school. During his tenure at AT&T, David gained invaluable experience managing and running a large customer-focused, service-oriented business. He was rapidly promoted from a retail position to progressively more senior roles in the enterprise software side of the business, ultimately serving as a client solutions executive managing large strategic and tactical accounts. While at AT&T, David won numerous awards for customer service, sales, and leadership.

David holds an MBA and a BS in Aviation from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a certificate in “Effective Communications and Human Relations” from The Dale Carnegie Program.

David also possesses several technical certifications with respect to appliance repair. He holds an ioAST (Institute of Appliance Service Technicians) Certification from Fred’s Appliance Academy, an EPA Type 608 Certification in Stationary Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, and a NASTeC – (National Appliance Service Technician) Certification from ISCET.

David believes in “doing the right thing,” taking care of others, and supporting his community. He is an active member of the congregation at Journey Church in Boynton Beach, where he serves on the technical team providing audio-visual support for sermons. David also enjoys fishing, cycling, and spending time with his family.

David has a passion for antique appliances and proudly displays a working 1935 GE monitor-top refrigerator in his living room.

About Pami

Pami Costanzo serves as David’s trusted advisor and helps out with Appliance King operational issues. A full-time English teacher at Boynton Beach Community High School, Pami was recently recognized by the Florida Department of Education as a “High-Impact Teacher.” Pami holds a master’s degree in English literature from Florida Atlantic University and a BA in English from Florida State University.

As a member of the Appliance King family and David’s wife, Pami regularly jumps in to help Appliance King and its customers. Despite her own demanding schedule, she has been known to drive far out of her way (with baby in tow), to pick up needed parts or otherwise pinch-hit in emergencies.

Pami is an avid reader and nurtures a interest in Irish literature, a nod to her Irish heritage. Pami also enjoys cooking, and, as an active member of her Journey Church in East Boynton Beach, she volunteers regularly in the on-premises cafe.

About Sally

Known for her stellar organization and follow-through, Sally is a master at taking care of people. When Appliance King founder Jim Costanzo fixed her air conditioner in 2000, she had just recently retired from a 35-year career as a private banker at Sun Trust Bank, where she had enjoyed helping people and ultimately served as a Vice President. Jim was so impressed by her positive attitude, her energy, and her experience that he offered her a job on the spot. She joined Appliance King in 2000, and, ever since then, she has been on our front lines answering calls and helping customers get up and running in no time. Sally has an incredible memory for people’s names and stories. She is also an expert at locating parts that are hard to find or discontinued.

Sally loves cooking and baking, and her mango bread is in high demand. She keeps us laughing with her encyclopedic knowledge of jokes and stories of her four cats: George Clooney, Rosey Grier, Sonny Bono, and Frankie Heck.

About Julie

Julie joined our team in 2019. She loves working for the family business, and she particularly enjoys hearing stories about her dad from longtime customers who remember him.

Julie collaborates with Sally and Luanne in taking care of our customers, answering questions on the phone and through social media, and scheduling visits. But she also keeps us organized behind the scenes, coordinating with technicians, scheduling repairs, handling back-office tasks, like payroll and bookkeeping, and making sure our phone and scheduling technologies are behaving. Her favorite part of the job is talking to customers and technicians — getting to know our customers, communicating their needs to technicians, and helping to resolve appliance problems.

Julie has spent most of her career taking care of customers. She started working in customer service during high school, as a customer service agent in the insurance business. She quickly obtained her license and worked in various aspects of the insurance and warranty business for seven years. Immediately prior to joining Appliance King, Julie spent two years taking care of customer claim escalations for a home warranty company, as a claims supervisor.

A former competitive figure-skater, Julie still enjoys skating in her free time. She also loves spending time with family and fishing.

About Luanne

One of our newest team members, Luanne joined us during the summer of 2020 — to help support customers, answer calls and understand needs, communicate with technicians, and schedule repairs. Luanne is enjoying getting to know our customers while also learning about appliances and a seemingly infinite number of appliance parts.

Luanne has spent most of her career in operational and management roles, making sure things get done and customers are happy. She spent eight years in the hospitality industry, in purchasing, merchandising, and other administrative and operational roles for a luxury resort in Florida. She also managed a Goodwill store for nine years and owned and operated a diner for five years.

Luanne loves animals, and at the end of the day she goes home to four dogs, a pig, and a husband (not necessarily in that order, of course). She enjoys spending time with her three grandchildren, going on cruises, and watching the Golden Girls and the Hallmark Channel, and she’s a huge Freddie Mercury fan.

About Morris

Morris originally joined Appliance King in 1996, hired almost on the spot by Diane Costanzo and trained in appliance installation by Jim Costanzo. He worked in-house at Appliance King until 2001, when he obtained his installation license and launched his own business, BigM Appliance Installation.

BigM focuses on installation of major appliances, such as above-the-range microwaves, dishwashers, double-ovens, cooktops, and refrigerators, along with water-line installation.

Appliance King continues to turn to BigM whenever an appliance installation needs an extra hand or additional expertise. Today, Morris handles some of our complex installations such as double wall-ovens, cook-tops, warming drawers, and any other installations which may require minor modifications to cabinetry.

If you didn’t purchase your appliance through Appliance King, BigM might be able to help. Feel free to reach out to BigM directly for your appliance installation needs. Contact info can be found at http://bigminstall.com/

Morris has 25 years of appliance installation experience, and he loves his work. He takes pride in doing a good job, making his customers happy, installing new appliances, and removing the old ones. He enjoys meeting new people and working on a variety of challenges every day.

In his free time, Morris loves to bowl, and his bowling average falls between 180 and 190. He also enjoys quality time with his family, and he lives with his wife, Valerie, to whom he has been happily married for 33 years “and counting.”

About Ryan

As our lead technician, Ryan can fix anything. Even if he hasn’t seen it before, he can figure it out. He has spent the past 25+ years repairing things, from cars to computers to appliances. His extensive mechanical, computer, and appliance repair experience provide a winning combination. Almost every appliance today contains computers and knowledge of circuit boards, testing pins on circuit boards, and software.

Prior to joining our team in 2014, Ryan served as an apprentice for 2 years under an experienced appliance technician. Before that, he worked as an auto mechanic for 6 years. He also ran a computer repair business during college. Throughout all his experiences, Ryan has demonstrated a passion for repairing things, a talent for complicated repairs, a strong work ethic, and a desire to help people. He holds an “A+ Certification in Computer Repair” from Palm Beach State College (formerly PBCC).

A Florida native, Ryan is a bird-lover and the proud father of three: Birdy-Boo (an African Gray parrot), Priscilla (a Blue-Crowned Conure), and Benny (a Lutino cockatiel).

About Joe

Joe initially joined the Appliance King team 30 years ago, working with us for 4 years before leaving to pursue other adventures but ultimately returning in 2019. Originally hired by Jim and Diane Costanzo in 1989, Joe received his appliance repair training from Jim Costanzo, and he still relies daily on things he learned during that time.

Joe has spent the last 30 years working as a factory-authorized service repair technician. His expertise ranges from appliances to air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical repairs, and he operated his own appliance repair firm for 6 years before returning to the Appliance King team and “rejoining the family.”

Joe enjoys appliance repair because he loves solving puzzles, and every job has the potential to present new challenges. He also finds satisfaction in helping people in their daily lives and enjoys building long-term relationships with his clients.

In his free time, Joe is also a musician and singer, playing guitar and bass at various locations in South Florida, either on his own, or with members of his band, Perry Street, as well as with his girlfriend, who’s also a vocalist.

Born in Philadelphia, Joe moved to South Florida over 30 years ago from Texas to experience the “American Caribbean” and live near the Florida Keys. When not repairing appliances or playing music, Joe is out scuba diving, lobstering, or riding his motorcycle.

About Jordan

Jordan installs new appliances for Appliance King customers, assessing customer needs and measuring space, installing new appliances, and removing the old ones for recycling. Jordan works closely with Diane Costanzo to coordinate customer visits and needs, and he trained Jared Dinoto in the ins and outs of installing microwaves, dishwashers, fridges, and other appliances.

Jordan enjoys installing all types of appliances, but he likes dishwasher installations the best, because the leveling process for these installations requires precision. Jordan’s favorite part of the job involves being a part of the team and getting to know our customers.

Jordan is currently studying and undergoing training to become a master appliance repair technician. He joined our team in 2019, after five years and working his way through several promotions in the appliance warehousing business. We got to know Jordan while he was in his previous job, and we were delighted when he told us he was interested in working with us.

A Florida native and Delray local, Jordan enjoys working out, playing basketball recreationally with friends, and spending time with his wife and young daughter.

About Jared

We were thrilled to welcome Jared to the Appliance King team during the spring of 2020. Jared coordinates closely with Diane Costanzo and Jordan Cook to provide end-to-end appliance installation and removal service for Appliance King customers. When necessary, Jared visits customers to measure spaces and help assess needs prior to purchase. Jared delivers and installs new appliances, removing old ones for recycling and/or safe disposal.

Jared is equally comfortable installing new washers and dryers, ovens, stoves, fridges, and more. Jared’s favorite part of the job so far is “being a part of the team.” He enjoys the camaraderie shared amongst Appliance King team members, and he’s thrilled to play a role in helping colleagues and customers.

Prior to joining Appliance King, Jared spent seven years working his way through various promotions in the security business. We appreciated his positive attitude and warm greetings every time we visited the community where he previously worked, and, as soon as we found out he wanted to join our team, we got to work finding the perfect role for him. Jared began working full-time at the age of 18, and he believes some of his most challenging jobs have helped to mold him into the person he is today. He believes it’s important to treat each person with respect and kindness, from the janitor to the CEO — and we agree.

Jared is also working towards his degree at Palm Beach State College, and so far he’s an “A” student. In his free time, Jared enjoys going to music festivals, listening to EDM and hip hop, and spending time with his friends.

About Don

In March 2017the Appliance King family was saddened by the loss of Don Dovey.

Incredibly knowledgeable, dependable, and driven, Don was a part of the Appliance King family for over 40 years. Don was an amazing person with a smile that lit up a room.

Don Dovey was an original employee of Acme Appliance and worked with us for more than 40 years. Don held various roles at our company, ultimately running our parts division. He was a GE appliance specialist, memorizing model numbers of all GE appliances manufactured over a forty-year period. He made an enormous impact on the business and the lives of everyone on the team.

Even after retiring, Don remained in our lives and served as an emeritus member of our team. We were touched that he made a special effort to be included in our company photo, just two weeks before his passing in 2017. Even in retirement, Don was there to lend us a hand, and we will be forever grateful for this extra time we were able to spend with him.
